What are Interior Design Terms and Conditions?

Interior Design Terms and Conditions form a contract which sets out your agreement to provide interior design services to a client. This includes all of the important stuff – scope. fees, payment, dispute resolution, termination and limitation of liability. It also covers Intellectual Property rights for your work.

Other names for this document include a Client Agreement, Services Agreement or Interior Design Contract.

It’s important to have a contract which is tailored to your industry, the unique services you provide and your way of doing business. Luckily, we have worked with a number of Interior Designers across Australia!

Yes, we recommend you always have a contract signed before you start a new interior design job for a client. A contract will help both sides to understand the terms of your agreement in black and white.

What happens if I don’t have a contract?

Without a clear agreement in writing, you are leaving yourself open to risk. It can be almost impossible to prove what you agreed on if you only have a verbal or ‘handshake’ agreement with your client. More importantly, you are leaving your business vulnerable. Our head office is at Inspire Cowork – a coworking space in Sydney – but we also support flexible work for our team. Our lawyers can work from anywhere.We use technology to come to you, wherever you’re located around Australia. Many of our clients work from home or at coworking spaces, just like us.

How do I provide instructions to my lawyer?

We communicate with our clients via phone, email and Zoom – whatever works best for you. There’s no need to meet face to face, but if you’re ever in the area you’re welcome to drop in!

How long will it take?

Generally it takes around 2 weeks to complete a drafting project from start to finish. If you have asked us to prepare more than one document, we’ll try to complete them at the same time to speed things up.

If something is urgent or you are working to a deadline, please let us know ahead of time and we will do our best to meet your timeline.
